Skyler Winter
I am an Alaska based photographer that fell in love with the art as a child and started taking photos professionally in 2020. I grew up in a small Colorado town called Peyton with my four younger siblings, while I learned almost everything I know about photography from my mom, Karin Winter.
While I currently live in Alaska, I spent the past couple of years living in different places, working and moving seasonally. All over the Rockies, The Netherlands, back in Colorado and now Alaska. During the chaos I found wildland fire fighting and fell right into place. The fire service has been one of the best things to keep me stable and living this non-sedentary life I have chosen. With that being said, in 2023 I had a seizure on the line outside of Steamboat Springs, Colorado. This event was caused from extended smoke inhalation and lead to a nine day hospital stay and three months of rehabilitation. During this time the Wildland Firefighter Foundation helped me and my family. This is exactly why I have chosen to donate 5% from every print sale to their cause.
I am so excited to continue to explore and document my life and career, here in the 49th state. And to continue to do so all around the globe while supporting the causes closest to me. I appreciate all your support an I look forward to sharing my future projects here! Cheers!
